Another Community Bans Wasteful and Discriminatory PLAs!

0 November 29, 2010  State & Local Construction, Uncategorized

Another community has said no to Big Labor handouts and higher costs for taxpayer funded construction.  The City Council of  Lewisville, Texas voted 5-0 to prohibit the use of project labor agreements (PLAs) on city funded work.  Text for the ordinance is based on the Chula Vista, California ballot initiative to prohibit government-mandated PLAs, which was approved by voters in June.

By approving this measure, the Lewisville City Council has shown that they are concerned about ensuring that the community gets the best construction at the best price.  Always.  Additionally, this move will guarantee that the 96 percent of the Texas construction workforce that chooses not to join a labor organization will have a fair opportunity to work on locally funded projects.  This means jobs for Texans.

Kudos to the Lewisville City Council for standing up for taxpayers!
